How Learning Communication Skills in English Can Make Your Life Better
How Learning Communication Skills in English Can Make Your Life BetterSome people wonder whether learning communication skills in English can make their lives better. In fact, with all the events that we've seen in the news recently, it's important to learn the language in order to communicate effectively and smoothly. There are many types of events or situations where English is used. Since so many people need to be able to communicate with others, it's important that they are able to do so. However, English is often not the first language learned, so this is why you need to learn another language in order to make yourself more fluent.Just like people from other countries are very familiar with English, so are many Americans. When we talk with other people, we have a general idea of what to say and how to say it. Learning to speak in English is just as important as learning the language that people from different parts of the world speak. This is why it's important for you to learn En glish as you go along. When you learn to use your English language skills, you'll be able to communicate in a much more natural way. With a good speaker's voice, English can be used in almost any situation, as long as you don't forget how to say words. Learning how to say something in a specific way is very important in an English speaking world, and you can do this even if you don't really know how to say it in your native language.Since so many people will ask you for help in English, you should be able to tell them what your native language is, and how you would like to be referred to. If you don't know what your native language is, then there's no way that you will be able to practice correctly. If you simply ask them for help, you'll be able to learn at your own pace.Being able to speak English will also give you an advantage when you meet someone new. You will be able to quickly communicate with those who don't speak English, and you won't be afraid to use the English language when it comes to marketing or something else.

10 ways to prepare your child for primary school
10 ways to prepare your child for primary school The first day at primary school is a landmark in every child's life. Here are some ways you can help your child make the transition from home/ nursery school to primary school: 1. If any of your friends have children starting at the same school, see if you can arrange a few 'playdates' before school starts - that way, your child will already have friends. 2. Encourage your child's independence by teaching them to dress themselves and look after their own possessions. 3. Lead by example: be enthusiastic and positive when you talk to your child about school. 4. If your child has older siblings or cousins, encourage them to tell your child positive things about starting school. 5. Teach your child about school etiquette, such as sharing, taking turns, and raising their hand to ask a question. 6. Get to know the school, and its staff, as well as you can. Attend parent-teacher meetings, inductions, social events and anything else that helps you build relationships with the people who will be taking charge of your child's early education. 7. Find storybooks about starting school and read them to your child. 8. Make sure you inform the school if your child has any allergies, special needs or medical issues. 9. Take your child with you when you go shopping for their uniform. Let them try it on and explain to them that this is what big boys and girls wear when they go to school. 10. Don't voice any concerns about the school in front of your child. Talk to a partner or friend about anything that's bothering you in private.
Breaking Good
Breaking Good Well my wife just got back from Bed, Bath, and Beyond, where she needed some thing for the shower or something like that. She told me how the store was full of parents and students from one of the private colleges in town. It was called back to the dorm day for some reason. The reason she brought this up is because she found several of the mothers, and I use that term any way you want to take it, were a bit on the aggressive side. She was pushed and shoved and glared at in line, as apparently these parents saw my wife as one more obstacle to over come. Get out of my way its back to school day in sin city. There is some good news for this educational season. Many students may now be willing to explore Chemistry courses, in their educational travels. The series Breaking Bad showed a desperate and ill high school chemistry teacher turning to manufacturing Crystal Meth as a means to supplement health care costs and provide for his family. It was such a crazy premise that it worked very well. The show was a hit and more students are interested in chemistry than ever before. Well parents welcome to the jungle of preparing your child/children for a new school year. But before you do the kids are going back to school dance, you will have to take them out for their supplies and new school clothes. Shopping with younger children can be an adventure, but taking older, college level kids out shopping can be a real nightmare too. One way around that is to give them a credit card with a strict limit to it and let them have at it. Because some of these stores, especially in the big city, with their back to school sales can be the survival of the fittest. Another important aspect of getting ready for the new school year is to honestly ask the question is your child ready for the next grade level?. If they had a bit of trouble with some of their assignments or subjects last year, you can be sure they will have even more trouble this year. Many students from elementary age on up have trouble with math and sciences. My kids did, as did I, when I found myself going back to school. The weakest area of the typical American student is in these categories. I noticed, in my own experience as an older student returning to school pursuing a Computer Science degree, was the farther along I got in the advanced math courses, the smaller the class size. Not popular subjects in America Im afraid. In fact the sad truth is that we have to bring engineers and scientist in from other countries to makeup for our lack of producing our own home grown ones. So if your child has trouble with math, they are not alone. The main thing that saved me was, a tutor. I needed someone who could translate what the professor was saying into terms I could grasp. When I sat down with a quality tutor before class I had an understanding that I could not have achieved on my own. And at the college level professors do not often have the time for one on one work with students. You can find whatever you are looking for in a tutor at TutorZ.com. And good luck to all in this new school year. Breaking Good Well my wife just got back from Bed, Bath, and Beyond, where she needed some thing for the shower or something like that. Verbal Reasoning. What is it and why is it important
Verbal Reasoning. What is it and why is it important When we hear the words 'Verbal Reasoning' our minds automatically jump to the eleven plus tests that school children sit in various parts of England for a place at a grammar school. But Verbal Reasoning is not just used for the eleven plus. It is also used by many employers to test the skills of their prospective employees and by many graduate training schemes to distinguish between applicants. What is Verbal Reasoning? Verbal Reasoning is basically about the way we think with words. It is a form of understanding and reasoning concepts based around words and language. It involves: problem-solving around words thinking about text following written instructions and deciphering a solution understanding letter sequences decoding letter and number-based codes Verbal reasoning tests judge a person's ability for problem-solving, critical and constructive thinking and general intelligence. There are many different types of verbal reasoning questions including: Insert a letter, where you must find a letter that will fit onto the end of one word and the beginning of another to form two new words. Find words that do not belong in a set group of words. Find words that have the same, similar or opposite meaning. Find hidden words within a sentence. Work out which number stands for which letter. Word connections Letter and number sequences. Reading information and analysis. And many more. Verbal reasoning is something that can be improved with practice and dedication. Verbal Reasoning Examples Let's take a look at a few different examples of verbal reasoning and how the answers are based on logically working out what is being asked: 1. If A = 4 B = 6 C = 7 D = 30 E = 13 What is C + A + E + B = Answer = D (Simply add up the numbers represented by the letters and the answer is 30; represented by the letter D) 2. Gerry's dad Mike is three times as old as Gerry was 2 years ago. If Gerry is 17 next year, how old is his dad? Answer = 42 (If Gerry is 17 next year that would make him 16, meaning he was 14 two years ago. 143 = 42). 3. If the code for the word YACHT is BZXSG What is the word for NLZGH? Answer = MOATS (This is a simple matter of working out the relationship between the letters. You will notice that Y is to B as A is to Z and C is to X. You should now be able to spot that the first letter of the alphabet transforms to the last letter of the alphabet, the second letter to the second to last letter, the third letter to the third last letter and so on. In this way we are able to work out that the words NLZGH is actually MOATS. You can also check this as two of the letters in the first coded word are also in the second coded word, A and T, so you only have to work out the other three.) 4. Read the following passage and decide which statement is true. On Saturday Olly, Jim and Christian like to go to the cinema. In the cinema Olly likes to buy popcorn and Jim always gets something to drink. Christian sometimes gets some sweets but will always get what Jim gets too. A. The boys go to the cinema every Saturday. B. Popcorn is the cheapest to buy. C. Christian doesn't have much money. D. Christian always gets a drink. E. Jim is the richest one. The answer is D. (These questions are simply a matter of elimination and again, logic. The statement states clearly that Christian always gets what Jim gets and Jim always gets something to drink. Therefore the only answer that is certain is D). 5. AB is to CD As EF is to = Answer = GH (The letters are a continuation of each other in the alphabet) 6. Which number comes next in the sequence? 12 6 16 10 20 14 (?) Answer = 24 (If you look at the numbers you will notice a pattern. Taking the first, third and fifth numbers they all progress by adding four each time. Then taking the second, fourth and sixth numbers also progress by adding four each time. Therefore the seventh number would just be four more that the fifth number). As we can see the answers to the questions are based on logic. It's a simple matter of being able to think about what the question is asking and logically working out the answer. There is always a logical sequence, pattern or observation that can be seen; it is just a matter of being able to work it out. The Importance of Verbal Reasoning Verbal Reasoning is important both in a child's academic life and their adult lives. Developing their verbal reasoning skills will allow them to become socially independent and succeed in their professional life later on. Having Verbal Reasoning skills will allow your child to develop qualities such as perception, understanding and solving complicated subject questions, empathy and logical reasoning as well as ensuring they have a great vocabulary. So what do children need to succeed at verbal reasoning tests? Author of Learning Together practice books, Stephen McConkey, states on the website The School Run: Children perform best in verbal reasoning tests if they're widely read and have an extensive vocabulary... They need a solid grasp of synonyms (words that have the same meaning), antonyms (words that mean the opposite of each other) and plurals, good spelling skills, and strong maths skills. A good general knowledge is also needed for verbal reasoning tests...Even if your child understands the question and can follow the written directions, if one of the possible words in the answer is unfamiliar, they may trip up. One of the best ways to encourage your child to develop their verbal reasoning skills is to encourage them to read. Reading will not only increase their vocabulary but they will learn to interpret words and understand comprehension. Other ways to help your child develop their verbal reasoning skills are: Play word games; understanding synonyms and antonyms, spotting odd words out and finding word replacements. Word searches and crosswords are a great way for your child to spot new words and find answers to riddles. Spelling tests don't have to be boring and tedious! Challenge your child to learn ten new words per week and test them. Have a small reward for when they achieve their goals. Encourage your child to write stories; these could be anything from something they have done or would like to do, creative fiction based on a book they have read or strange and mysterious tales using their imagination. Improve their general knowledge; learn interesting facts together, visit museums, play science games, take nature walks... there are plenty of ways to teach your child something new. Improve their logic skills by asking them simple questions for them to work out. Private Tutors are often employed to aid in the learning of Verbal Reasoning. Many tutors have great ways of explaining complex problems to children in a simple, fun and easy-to-understand way. To Conclude Some children are naturally very good at verbal reasoning whilst others require more practice and a helping hand. Whatever the case, your child will need verbal reasoning throughout their school days and on into adulthood. Encourage your child to develop their verbal reasoning skills through games, trips and simple tasks at home. This will not only aid them in their academic life but will build up their logic skills, and of course plenty of other skills, for when they grow up.
How Chirality is Related to Organic Chemistry
How Chirality is Related to Organic ChemistryChirality Organic Chemistry is one of the five categories of organic chemistry. Its research is related to the nature of matter, atomic structure, and the way atoms move in the matter. Chirality Organic Chemistry studies how matter has an intrinsic rotation of its plane. In other words, the symmetry of molecules may be expressed by the aspect ratio and the plane normal to it.Chirality of molecules is important in the way matter is structured. If you know what chirality means, you know that the atoms have the same number of electrons as the protons, neutrons, and electrons in their nucleus. Every atom has two faces, just like a mirror. An atom with the left face facing the current is said to be chiral while the one with the right face facing the current is said to be conchiral.Chirality in molecules also has another implication - it determines the way they move. For example, water molecules in an electrolyte (something made of ions such as sodium, potassium, calcium, and so on) moves at the same speed (if the atoms are equal in size) in both directions. But if water molecules have a low chirality - having three electrons in the atomic nucleus and the rest being either neutrons or electrons - then they move at different speeds (at right angles to each other), and thus there is a tendency for them to move in the same direction.Chirality is very important in how the molecules interact with the environment. In fact, the molecular chirality can also be considered a component of the environmental context - particles move in a way that may be dependent on this component. For example, the metal ions ionize and become negatively charged; if their chirality is high, the ionized area's shift to the right in the atomic lattice, and the ions in the material move rightwards.Chirality has another consequence as well. In the field of medicine, the chirality of the atoms that make up your body can determine which tissue structures the body will develop and which ones you will die from.In addition, chirality has consequences for the chemical properties of the things around us. For example, the chirality of carbon atoms in a piece of graphite acts as a gas in an atmosphere; when the atoms of carbon have a low chirality, the atoms are at least 10 times less dense than the ordinary ones, and when they have a high chirality, the atoms are several times denser. Carbon does not lend itself to the formation of diamond or other crystalline substances; instead, they form carbonates and other oxides, which are the compounds in oceans, seas, and lakes.Chirality is also associated with the way life is formed. As the chirality is high, there is a tendency for the starting material (like hydrogen or carbon) to break down into more stable compounds. In fact, the formation of nuclei in stars requires a high chirality in the amino acids that give rise to them, because otherwise there would be too much variation between the nuclei . Thus, the role of chirality in nature was the subject of a lot of speculation before its importance was understood.

Why Introverts Should Consider Taking a Mental Health Day - Introvert Whisperer
Introvert Whisperer / Why Introverts Should Consider Taking a Mental Health Day - Introvert Whisperer Why Introverts Should Consider Taking a Mental Health Day Kayla Matthews November 26, 2018 Adaptability, Neuroscience No responses Go to top Being an introvert in an extroverted world can be stressful. Were expected to be consistently in contact with everyone around us, both for work and social activities, and quite frankly, it can be exhausting. One idea that has become more popular in recent years is the concept of the mental health day. What are mental health days, and why should introverted individuals consider taking one? What Is a Mental Health Day? While taking a mental health day is a relatively new concept, its no different from staying home when youre feeling under the weather. As its name suggests, a mental health day is a day you take off from work when you need to focus on your mental health. These recently made the news when a woman sent an email to her companys CEO letting them know she was taking a couple of sick days to take care of her mental health. The CEO responded, thanking her for helping reduce the negative stigma surrounding mental health care. Why Should You Take a Mental Health Day? If you identify as introverted â" as someone who feels exhausted by social or professional interaction and regains their energy by spending time in solitude â" why should you consider taking a mental health day or two? Studies have shown introverts are more likely to experience depression symptoms than extroverts. While depression can affect anyone, individuals who identify as introverted are often more sensitive, experience more social anxiety and internalize an inferiority complex. These things alone hurt the psyche, but together they can result in full-blown depression. Most mental health services dont deal well with introverts, so if you find yourself staying in an inpatient facility, you may not have any time for privacy and quiet. This is inherently detrimental for introverts, who recharge and heal best when others leave them alone. As an introvert, you may have a smaller core circle of friends than extroverts do. These are specially chosen individuals who dont drain you with their presence, but it also means you might not have someone you can call on short notice if youre having a mental health crisis. Introverts also spend more time alone than with others, so they might not have someone there who can tell them when theyre acting strangely or out of character. Taking a mental health day gives you the opportunity to step back and assess your mental health, and take steps to fix it if it needs fixing, without work stress weighing down on you. Cutting Through the Stigma Popular media regularly portrays mental health and mental illness in a negative light. In addition to influencing the public perception of mental health, this negative stigma discourages individuals from seeking out professional help when they need it. The only way were going to cut through this stigma is to talk about it. Bring it, kicking and screaming if need be, into the daylight. Not talking about mental illness doesnt make it go away â" it merely means those with the conditions continue to suffer in the shadows. Saying youre taking a mental health day is a great way to get the conversation started. What If You Cant Take a Day Off? If you work for a company that doesnt support mental health days, what can do you if you feel yourself getting overwhelmed in the office? Meditate â" Spending five minutes meditating can help balance your stress levels and give you a safe space where you can relax and let your stress bleed away. Put in your headphones and follow a guided meditation until you feel less stressed. Organize â" If you have your own office or desk, spend a few minutes and focus on organizing your space. Chaos and clutter negatively impact your mental health. Learn your limits â" Take time to learn your limits. Knowing where your boundaries are will keep you from going past them and exhausting yourself to please others. Say no â" Saying no isnt selfish. It is the epitome of self-care. Dont say yes just because you think it will keep your co-workers happy. You dont have to agree to everything. There is nothing wrong with being an introvert â" unless you dont take time to take care of yourself. If youre getting overwhelmed or stressed out, take a mental health day and take care of yourself. Youll be surprised how much better you feel afterward, and how much more productive youll be when you get back into the office. Go to top Do you know what your next career step is? Many people donât. 30 Excellent Career Options for Spanish Speakers [Infographic]
30 Excellent Career Options for Spanish Speakers [Infographic] Suzy S. You know the benefits of being bilingual, but how should you put your Spanish skills to the best use? Here, Jason N. shares several jobs for Spanish speakers to consider, from careers in health care to government positions to tourism coordinators Letâs start off with good news! If you are bilingual in Spanish and English, you probably arenât struggling to find employment! Being bilingual clearly makes you a more desirable candidate in the workforce. As I have mentioned in previous blog posts, the number of Spanish-speaking people in this country continues to increase by the day and businesses are learning that they can target a wider audience and serve more people if they expand their services and products to the growing Spanish-speaking public. The health sector in particular is realizing that an entirely monolingual English-speaking staff does not adequately serve the health needs of many Spanish-speaking populations. Your command of Spanish makes you more hirable and qualified for higher-paying jobs in many industries. After showing you a birdâs-eye view of jobs for Spanish speakers, I will go into more detail about specific sectors that are currently on the prowl for bilingual hires. Share this Image On Your Site Please include attribution to http://takelessons.com with this graphic. Jobs in the Health Care Sector As the countrys Spanish-speaking population increases, the need for bilingual professionals rises. Conversational fluency is a key for this field, particularly because medical conditions and treatment often require specific and scientific language. The subtleties of meaning can be âlost in translationâ if the speaker cannot convey and understand the message. Knowing the language also implies knowing certain cultural norms. Being of Hispanic origin or living in a Hispanic country for an extended period of time can offer insight into the family situations and everyday concerns of patients you will be dealing with regularly. As patients grow comfortable with the people they count on for their care, their quality of care increases. Jobs in the Law and Law Enforcement Sector Many Spanish-speaking immigrants need to work with law firms for immigration and other issues. If you speak Spanish, you instantly double the number of people you can represent, help, and serve. Law enforcement also addresses how people in public relate to each other. For instance, when residents cannot converse with local police, fear and resentment can develop between certain parties. This makes areas less safe for residents and the job of patrolling it more difficult for police. Predominantly Spanish-speaking neighborhoods need bilingual officers to attend to both the English- and Spanish-speaking portions of the population regularly. Jobs in Interpretation or Translation Most industries need skilled translators who can communicate in Spanish to target a wider population and âspread the word.â Many translators have governmental jobs (Spanish is one of six of the official languages of the United Nations), or work freelance, with ad agencies, or with schools. Many courthouses employ translators and bilingual court reporters. In many cases, the job you already have may find you even more valuable if you become fluent in a second language some companies are even willing to pay for schooling to learn Spanish! Jobs in the Journalism Sector With a growing Spanish-speaking public comes a need to deliver news and information in the primary language of a given community. Because they can speak to both the Spanish and the English public, bilingual reporters and writers have an advantage over the competition and subsequently increase their profitability, desirability, and marketability. With specialized Spanish-speaking networks and publications on top of the many English media outlets across the country, the need for bilingual journalists is greater than ever before. Jobs in the Hospitality Sector Hotels, restaurants, spas, bars, and any other places tourists frequent on vacation or for business require professionals who can communicate both with locals and international travelers. Specific areas where there are a higher number of Spanish-speaking residents such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, New York, and Miami require Spanish skills more than others. This is an additional plus to pursuing a career in the hospitality industry, since these are also some of the most attractive and warmest parts of the country. Polishing Your Spanish-Speaking Skills As you can see, there are many jobs for Spanish speakers to consider! The benefits of learning Spanish are vast not only for your career path, but when it comes to your personal life, too. Learning Spanish can help you make new friends, stay mentally sharp as you age, and even save you money as you travel. Already started learning? Youre well on your way to all these benefits. Need some extra help? Search for a Spanish tutor near you here! Jason N. tutors English and Spanish in Fairfax, CA. He majored in Spanish at UC Davis, lived in Mexico for 3 years where he completed a Masters degree in Counseling, and studied Spanish Literature and Psychology at the University of Costa Rica.
